When I joined the company I found that the system in use was Namasoft's, but it was not fully operational — parts of it were not working. I took on the challenge, we surfaced every problem in it, and within six months it was running and the system had been configured to match the way we work.

The Engineering Group is part of Kenan Holding, which operates mainly in Saudi Arabia with a subsidiary in Egypt based in Alexandria. The group is known for the Shild brand.

Its Nama ERP rollout is a useful story precisely because it did not start well. The system was already in place when Group CFO Wael Fouad joined, but it was only partly working. Rather than replace it, the group worked through the problems and had it properly configured and running within six months.

He also singles out actual-cost recalculation — costs recomputed on real values rather than standard ones alone — as one of the capabilities that matters most to how the group runs.
